Abstract: To further identify a new strain of Trichomonad isolated from the feces of a cat with chronic diarrhea, isolation and cultivation, morphological observation and gene homology analysis of 18S rRNA of the Trichomonad were accomplished in this study. Morphological observation showed that the Trichomonas was shaped pear or spindle, with 3 anterior flagella and 1 posterior flagella. The results of phylogenetic tree construction showed that Trichomonas isolated in this study is Trichomonas foetus, which is in the same evolutionary branch and is closely related to the sequence MH400076.1 in GenBank with 99% sequence similarity. Based on the above identification results, this Trichomonas isolated from cats with long-term chronic diarrhea is T. foetus.
