Abstract: This article aims to evaluate the clinical outcomes and complications of distal radial and ulnar fractures in toy-breed dogs treated with conventional T-shape bone plate fixation. Medical records of toy-breed dogs with distal radius and ulna fractures repaired with open reduction and internal fixation utilizing conventional T-shape bone plate in the animal hospital of China Agricultural University were reviewed, and these cases were followed up. The inclusion criteria were: body weight of <7 kg; Fracture located in the distal antebrachium (distal-to-total radial length ratio <0.25);The follow-up time was longer than 12 months; Case information records were complete. Results: 29 cases of radius and ulna fractures in 29 dogs were included, 26 cases (89.7%) had a successful return to normal function, and 3 cases (10.3%) had barely detectable lameness. Minor complications in 6 fractures (20.7%) were identified and there was no major complications occurred. Conventional T-shape bone plate internal fixation are effective means for stabilization of distal radius and ulna fractures in toy-breed dogs that result in good clinical outcome with no major complication.
