Abstract: The resistant phenotypes and the genotypes of extendedspectrum βlactamases were detected in Salmonella pullorum by microdilution method and PCRsequencing. The results indicated that the isolates were high resistance to ampicillin, thirdgeneration cephalosporins, florfenicol, and enrofloxacin, although sensitive to cefepime, ceftiofur/sulbactam (2∶1), and cefoperazone/tazobactam (4∶1). Eight isolates harboured five kinds of ESBL genotypes (six TEM1, three CTXM65, one CTXM90, two OXA1 and one OXA10). To our knowledge, this study is the first to describe and name the CTXM90. The amino acid sequence of CTXM90 contains only one amino acid alteration, when contrasting to that of CTXM14 or CTXM65 (80Ala→Val, and 275Arg→Ser, respectively). Based on amino acid sequence similarities, CTXM90 is classified in the CTXM9 subgroup. The results illustrated that eight Salmonella pullorum showed serious multiresistance and carried complex extendedspectrum βlactamase genes.
