Abstract: Three hundred male chickens (55.5g±5.2g) were randomly divided into three groups. The group I and II take orally Qingliang electuary I and II (0.1% of ration) in water, and the other one is used as control. Then at the 7th, 21st, 35th and 49th day of age, all chickens in the three groups were weighted and 5 chickens from each group were randomly sampled and killed, 2 cm of intestinal segments from the duodenum, jejunum and ileum were collected for measuring the length of intestinal villus. The results showed that Qingliang electuary II is better than Qingliang electuary I in improving the length of intestinal villus. Compared with the control, the length of intestinal villus in the duodenum, jejunum and ileum in Qingliang electuary II group increased by 0.38mm (P<0.01) at 49th day, 0.36mm (P<0.01) at 21st day and 0.16mm (P<0.01) at 35th day respectively. The weight of chickens was continuously gained along with the length of intestinal villus. At 35 days old the weight in Qingliang electuary II increased by 79.44g (P<0.01) as compared with that in the control. The body weight is positive correlation with length of intestinal villus in chicken. It was hinted that the Qingliang electuary have obvious effects on lengthening intestinal villus and accelerating growth in chicken.
