Abstract: Porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (PRRSV) continues to be a threat, and causes huge economic losses in the swine industry. Commercial vaccines are still ineffective as they suffer from both PRRSV-induced immune evasion strategies and the antigenic heterogeneity of the virus. In this paper, the latest research progress of structural and nonstructural proteins of PRRSV are summarized, such as biological functions, which seems to be effective in PRSSV prevention and control, design of new vaccines.
