Abstract: To analyze the relationship between GDF9 gene and expansion of cumulusoocyte complex (COCs), the expression of GDF9 in goat COCs during oocytes in vitro maturation (IVM) (0, 6, 12, 18, 24 and 27 h) was detected by fluorescent quantitative RTPCR method. The result showed that GDF9 mRNA were expressed at low levels in immature oocytes and increased to the highest level at 12 h of IVM, which coincides with the time of cumulus cell expansion, then declined slowly during IVM, with a slight increase at the end of IVM. The expression pattern of GDF9 suggested that it might be important in cumulus expansion and oocyte maturation of goat.
