The journal is sponsored by the Chinese Association of Animal Science and Veterinary Medicine. It is a national academic journal, founded in 1956, in the area of animal and veterinary medical sciences. The editorial board of the journal, which is located in Institute of Animal Science of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, is responsible for the editing and publishing of the journal. Readers of AVZS are faculty and students of universities and colleges, producers and agribusiness personnel, and researchers in this broad field. Papers published in Acta Vet Zootech Sinica play an important role in disseminating advances in animal science and veterinary medicine, impacting the relevant professions as well as influencing practical production. The journal is one of the Chinese core journals of natural science in China. It is included in the main domestic and overseas index databases and abstracting periodicals. The journal has won the First Prize of the National Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine Outstanding Periodicals four times during 1984-2007.
